Tight finish for Kyogle Son in Devonport on Sunday

Aug 27, 2017

Kyogle Son defied a betting a drift and a barnstorming finish from King’s Spirit to extend his form line picket fence.

After going 10 starts without a win, Kyogle Son has now won four straight, the latest, a game effort in the Winter Warmers Feast Benchmark 68 at Devonport on Sunday.

Easy in the betting, $2.50 to $4.00, Kyogle Son was taken to the front by Chris Graham and just lasted to beat the well supported King’s Spirit ($3.30 to $2.70) by a nose with outsider Radioactive almost three lengths away third.

The win completed a double for apprentice Graham and trainer Adam Trinder, the pair earlier combined for a first up win with Steel Dan.

Unlike his stablemate, Steel Dan was heavily backed, firming from $12 into $7.00 Tasracing Official Price.

Steel Dan hadn’t raced since finishing last in Launceston in February but had recently won a Devonport trial in good fashion.
