Trainer to decide on Flemington or Spreyton for smart sprinter Valiant Warrior

Aug 06, 2016

The 1000-metre race has attracted a quality field, with classy five-year-old Valiant Warrior the topweight on 59 kilograms.

However he is not a certain starter as he is also entered for Flemington on Saturday.

Trainer Adam Trinder said the gelding would run in Melbourne if the track condition was suitable.

“At the moment Flemington is rated a slow 7 but the forecast is good and if the track is upgraded the horse will run there,” Trinder said.

“Otherwise, he will stay at home.”

The Devonport carnival continues on August 14 with the $20,000 Luxbet All Weather Distance prelude over 1650m.

The finals of both races are worth $25,000 and will be run on August 21 and 28 respectively.
